Yrs 3-6 Summer Sport & Horizons Preference selection opens

Welcome back to Term 3 and our Winter Sports programme.  Just a reminder that the Winter programme will finish in Week 7 this term.

The Summer Sport & Horizons Preferences will be released via our parent announcements today. This year for Years 3-6 there will be a change to the preference form for Sport and Horizons.  We have combined the form so that you may make all your selections in one session.  We hope that this change will make the process less time consuming for families, and by aligning the two programmes, it will be easier for families to plan and work to a set timetable.  Please find a link to the summer timetable here to get an idea of what is on offer for the next season.

Summer Sport PreferencesThe Summer Sports programme will commence this Term in Week 8.  The Summer preference form will be sent to all parents on Friday of Week 3, Term 3 (as stated above).  If you would like to discuss with your child/ren the sport they would be interested in playing during the summer months, then you can find some more information here on the CGS connect pages.  Students will need to select the same sport for Monday and Wednesday for Touch Football, Basketball, Cricket, Triathlon & Tennis and then be mindful that these sports have a weekend or further after school commitment.  Please see the table below for further details:

Sport  Training Days            Competition Days

Touch Football        Monday & Wednesday (Training Days)            Thursday 5-7pm at Deakin (Competition Day)

Basketball    Monday & Wednesday (Training Days)    Friday & Saturday (U12s), Sunday (U10s) (Competition Day)

Cricket          Monday & Wednesday (Training Days)            Friday/Saturday games (Competition Day)

Triathlon       Monday & Wednesday (Training Days)    Saturday races x 5 (23/10, 6/11, 4/12, 20/02/22, 20/03/22) (Competition Day)

Tennis            Monday & Wednesday (yr 5/6 will train on Wed mornings) (Training Days)  Optional weekend competitions. (Competition Day)

Mountain Biking     Monday (Training Days)      No Competition

Multi-Sport *           Monday (Training Days)      No Competition

*All students who do not select any sport in Years 3 & 4 will be automatically placed in our multi-sport group during school hours for Monday sports.  Multi-Sport is a good option if you child would not like to compete or has other outside commitments on Wednesdays or the weekends.

Horizons PreferencesHorizons is our before & after School Co-Curricular programme.  We run extra or extension programmes for students at CGS which begin directly after school from 3:20-4:45pm in the following areas; STEM, Visual Arts, Speaking & Performance, Languages, Food Technology, Academic & Physical Activity.  Please see our Summer timetable for further details on each of these offerings.

Once the preference form is released on Friday 6th August at 11am, then it would be a good idea to have all your options ready to plug into the form so you can submit it quickly to secure you position in the classes or activities.  We have limited places on some sport/activities so it would be best to get in early and be ready with your preferences to avoid disappointment.

Thank you
