Year 11 Academic Conference
Virtual
The Year 11 Academic Conferences will be conducted via Zoom on Thursday 23 July 2020. The schedule for your meetings is available via Connect: School Account < Report and Letters), and the link to the document which holds all individual teacher Zoom meeting details also on Connect via Senior Academic < Academic Conferences < Zoom Academic Conference Links
Each student will receive the Zoom invites from their teachers for the interviews directly via email, and the Academic office asks that they accept the meetings on your behalf, or decline if you are unable to make it. The invite will contain only the address for the given teacher, and the time shown will be the entire evening. This must be matched with the specific time slot for your individual meeting. You will do this by consulting the personalised appointments schedule which will arrive separately. If your child accepts the invite, all meeting addresses will be available in their Outlook calendar, which is the easiest way of accessing everything throughout the afternoon. We strongly recommend students are also involved in the meetings.
If you are unable to access your child’s appointments via their email account, all you will need is the appointments list, and the link to the master sheet with all the Zoom addresses for each teacher (above). In this case, you will need to copy the individual Zoom links so you can access them at the allocated times from 4:30pm next Thursday.
When you join the meeting, you will initially be placed in a waiting room. Once your time arrives, the teacher will admit you and start your interview. For this to work, you will need to ensure your Zoom name includes both your name and your child’s name so teachers can easily identify which parent is associated with each student. By right clicking anywhere on your picture once in the waiting room, you can change your name. Please place your name first and the child’s name second.
For this system to work efficiently, we do need to keep to the allocated times. Should you experience any disruptions or difficulties in contacting a teacher, please email them later. We apologise in advance should this occur, but sometimes connections suffer disruptions that we have no control over. We will work with Yr 11 students via their tutor group next week to show them how this system works too.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 23 July, according to your individual appointments schedule.
