The Snow Centre
Year 10 Academic Conference
The School welcomes you to the Year 10 Academic Conference evening. The details for this evening are:
on Thursday 21 March 2019
beginning from 6:00pm and concluding at 9.00pm
to be held in the Snow Centre
all Year 10 teachers as well as Heads of Student House will be present
students (in school uniform) should attend with their parents
refreshments will be served in the Snow Centre foyer
A key focus of this evening is to provide you and your child with a fair and honest assessment of how they
have transitioned from Year 9 to Year 10. Further, the timing is deliberate. Teachers will discuss not only on what has transpired, but what your
child can plan for in the weeks and months ahead as the first assessment period gets underway.
From early Term 2 the School will offer a number of events and information sessions
as Year 10 students begin the process of selecting Year 11 and 12 subject pathways. On 23 May, the School will hold an Academic Expo, an evening event which showcases the various IB and HSC courses on offer. It is an opportunity to listen, to discuss and to
gather useful information. Later in Term 2 students will be engaged in a Careers Day and this will be followed by a University Expo held in early Term 3 at Epic. Each of these events is aimed at providing your child with good, accurate and helpful information
to help them make serious decisions about subject pathways. More information will be made available closer to each of these events.
A list of the appointments will be published on CGS Connect. All appointments will be for five minutes. As far as possible we have
tried to allow a break between interviews to allow you to move between them, however we have tried to group interviews together to avoid a lengthy evening for you. It is very important for the smooth functioning of the evening that interview times are strictly
observed, both the beginning and the end. Please remember to bring the appointments schedule with you.
Our directions to staff are to keep to their schedule, so please understand when you are late for an appointment that the teacher
may need to ask you to return at a later time in the evening when he/she is free. It may mean a subsequent phone call to the teacher the following day.
Your schedule of appointment times may indicate “Not requested”; you should take this to mean that the teachers have no serious concerns
about your child. Nevertheless, they will be present from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, and may have some time available for unscheduled interviews. Teachers hope to talk briefly to as many parents as possible.
If you are unable to be present on the evening I would appreciate hearing from you. Please contact the Academic Office, Ms Lee Miller
via email email@example.com.
We look forward to welcoming you on Thursday 21 March during your allotted interview times.
