What do I need to bring on the day of my trial?

You need to bring appropriate Swimwear, a towel and optional items such as goggles and cap. Students will wear normal uniform for that day and change into their swimwear before the trial and back into uniform after completing the trials.

What happens if I miss my trial?

There is a catch up session on Friday for anyone that misses his or her trial.

What does the trial consist of?

Students who wish to trial for the carnival will complete a timed 50m in each stroke they choose to trial in. The strokes are Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly.

Why do we do trials?

These trials are used to seed students into heats of similar ability, and used to meet the requirements for students to swim 50m in the carnival. There are limited numbers for each event at the carnival. Novelty events are in place to give all students a chance to participate and earn points for their house.

Who is completing these trials?

These trials are for years 3 & 4 students, and new students to CGS in years 5 & 6. Some students who missed trials last year may also be trialled during this week.

Are the trials compulsory?

The trials are NOT compulsory. However, a trial is required to meet the requirements to swim 50m at the carnival. Students are encouraged to trial in as many strokes as they are comfortable.
