Geo Science Australia: Weathering and Erosion Onsite Education Programme

In our Unit of Inquiry, Sharing the Planet, Year 4 has been exploring how Earth’s surface changes over time, the limited nature of Earth’s resources and our obligations to care for our Earth. Recently we have been exploring erosion and weathering. To deepen our understanding of this topic, we will be heading off to Geoscience Australia on Monday, 9 May.

Geoscience Programme: Weathering and ErosionThe Weathering and Erosion programme focuses on changes that occur in rocks and the landscape as a result of geological processes, and how fossils can give us clues to the past.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

LUNCH: No lunch orders will be available. Packed lunch and morning tea is to be brought to school. This will be eaten at school on return or before the excursion.

CLOTHING: Full school uniform with blazers, unless it is their normal PE day, in which case students can wear their PE uniform.

MUSIC LESSONS: If your child has a lesson during this time, please contact the music person and organise an alternative lesson time.

MASKS: All children and adults are expected to wear masks when travelling on public transport. Please ensure your child has a mask packed in their bag.

SESSION TIMES:Year 4 will travel to Geoscience Australia on buses to participate in two different session times:

Group 1 4B and 4W and half of 4D (Session Time 9:30 -11:00)

Group 2 4K, 4G and half of 4D (Session Time 11:30-1:00)
