Purpose: The Adventurous Journey (AJ) is a compulsory unit of the Duke of Edinburgh award. It is about getting outside and going on an expedition or exploration in an unfamiliar and challenging environment, with an agreed objective/purpose.
Briefing day: Students will meet at the Outdoor Ed Office at 10am on the 20th of Jan for a planning session. The planning and preparation is a compulsory component on the AJ. The session will run for 2 hours. In that time students will plan the route, create their menu and have the opportunity to borrow gear.
Drop off/Pick up: The students attending will meet at the OE Office at CGS @ 7am for a 7:30am departure on the 21th of Jan. We will return on the 26th of Jan with a predicted eta of 6pm. Parents will be notified if timings change.
Location: This year the AJ will take place in the Victorian Alpine National Park. The proposed outline starts and finishes at Falls Creek.

Accommodation: Students will be sleeping in tents for the duration of the trip with the exception of the final night. The last nights accommodation will be at Howmans Gap Discovery Camp and Alpine Centre located in Falls Creek, Victoria.
Food: Students will be self-catering for all meals. It is their responsibility to ensure all meals are light weight and nutritious, taking into account all dietary requirements and allergies. Staff will assist students during the planning session to ensure this is the case.
Activities: Hiking, swimming, camp craft, camp stove cooking and campfires (weather permitting).
