John Lingard Hall

For current Year 2 and 3 parents interested in IOP for their child in 2022.

Contact:  IOP@cgs.act.edu.au  Maddie Retter and Elizabeth Pfingst

The IOP provide students the opportunity to learn a musical instrument at CGS

Students in the IOP will receive small-group tuition from a specialist teacher at a more cost-effective rate than private lessons.

Students can attend the IOP Expo to find the instrument they are most suited to learn

Enhancements

Double the learning time: The IOP will run for one year allowing students to gain double the instruction on their instrument and develop their playing skills

Greater focus on progress: Students will receive a small group lesson in addition to an ensemble lesson each week

No disruption to class time: Lessons will take place outside of class time each week

More instrumental options: Students can learn a string, brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument in Years 3 and 4

New learning pathways: After one year, students can continue to learn in paired or individual lessons and join an ensemble

Greater consultation: Students will be recommended to an instrument based on the IOP Expo and consultation with their class teachers

An authentic ensemble experience: The programme will be balanced so ensembles reflect instrumentation of professional ensembles, allowing each student to actively contribute and feel valued across the range of instruments

These enhancements allow for a more holistic and high-quality Instrumental Opportunities Programme, growing our students’ creativity and confidence.

Day: Friday, weekly Time: 7:20am for 7:30-8:30am class Cost: per student per year (includes tuition, instrument hire, music book, music stand, and relevant music accessories)
