Welcome Day for New Students

Red Hill and Northside

On Monday 1st February, the Primary School will be hosting some welcome day activities.  These brief 'check in' style events are designed to allow students and parents to meet their teacher, learn where their classroom is located and generally feel connected and excited for the first formal day of school on Tuesday 2nd February.

CGS is taking a proactive approach to the return of the school year, with the health and safety of all our community as paramount in our thinking.  The first two weeks of term will be much like the end of last year, with parents using the drop off facilities and not accompanying students to classrooms, running only year level events and reminding all of good hygiene practices.  Therefore, we have adapted our welcome day program to include the following:

KINDERGARTEN (Red Hill campus)

Kindergarten (Red Hill campus) will be invited on to campus, one class at a time, with strict time limits to allow for cleaning of surfaces in between sessions.  Where possible, we ask that only one parent attends the session with their Kindergarten child and signs the COVID declaration form on arrival at CGS.  Kindergarten students are not required to wear uniform or require any other equipment for this session.

Monday 1st February 2021

  • 9:00am to 10:00am Kindergarten Robinson
  • 10:30am to 11:30am Kindergarten Callahan
  • 12:00noon to 1:00pm Kindergarten Ings

NEW STUDENTS (Year 1 to Year 6)  Red Hill and Northside Campus - 1:30pm - 2:30pm

Students new to CGS are invited on campus to meet their teacher from 1:30 pm to 2:30pm.  We encourage only one parent to attend this session and to sign the COVID declaration form on arrival at CGS.  You will be greeted and shown to your classroom to meet your teacher.  New students are not required to wear uniform or require any other equipment for this session.

RETURNING STUDENTS – Pre-School to Year 6 – Red Hill and Northside Campus

Students who are returning to CGS in 2021 will have a chance to meet their teacher via an online Zoom session.  Parents and students are encouraged to choose one of the Zoom sessions to have a quick chat to your teacher online. Questions can be asked at the session, with general information being given by the teacher.  New students are also able to access the Zoom session if desired.

Please refer to announcement for the link to Zoom meetings.

Zoom Session 1 - 2:45pm to 3:00pm

Zoom Session 2 - 3:15pm to 3:30pm
