All CGS rugby players are invited to put their name forward to be considered for the Legends Shieldcompetition to be held on Thursday 5 March 2020.

CGS will be entering one team in the Years 3/4 competition and one team in the Years 5/6 competition. Both teams will include numbers from both year groups. Only players who have played rugby before will be considered for selection. A maximum of 11 boys and/or girls will be selected for each team.

Please note this competition is a Rugby League competition and we are entering to complement our Rugby programme.

TRAINING:

This is skill-based only (non-contact) and will take place for both teams at first break on

Wednesday 26 Feb.

Boys and girls should meet at the PE Office at 10:45am.

Students can wear their PE/School uniform with trainers.

Players with more rugby experience and skill will be prioritised this year, as this is the first year we have entered this tournament. If number exceed expectations, we may attempt to enter more teams if suitable.

DETAILS:

·        Date:Thursday 5 March 2020

·        Time:First game commences atapprox 9:30am (All players will need to be at the ground by 9:00am). Completion time around 2.30pm

·        Venue: Phillip Oval, Ainsworth Street, Phillip (across from Canberra Hospital)

·        Bring: Lunch, snacks, water bottle, full CGS Rugby uniform including jumper, shorts, socks, boots, head gear and mouth guard.

Referees will be provided andMedical Officers will be present at the carnival.

Students will need to complete the nomination form attached to this note and return it to Mr McMahon by Wednesday 26 February to be considered. No late nominations will be accepted.

Teams will be sent as an Announcement by Friday 28 February.

The selected players will also need to make their own way to and from the event.

The two teams will be accompanied by Mr McMahon and Mr Mowlam.
