Kindergarten Health Checks: Northside Campus

Northside Campus

Kindergarten Health Checks will be held today run by the ACT Government Kindergarten Health Programme Staff at Northside campus.

All children in the ACT are offered a Kindergarten Health Check in their first year of primary school. The aim of this program is to promote child health and wellbeing, and help identify children with potential health problems that may affect their ability to learn.

The ACT Government Kindergarten Health Check includes: A physical health check provided by School Health Registered Nurses. This includes vision, hearing, height, weight and Body Mass Index (BMI). This is completed at your child’s school. A questionnaire completed by you, your child’s parent or carer. You will be sent a letter from Canberra Health Services with the results after the physical health check. Canberra Health Services will let you know if we think your child will benefit from further assessment or referral to other services. The hearing and vision results are only provided to your child’s teacher if you consent. Your GP will also receive a copy of the results if you consent.

Canberra Health Services will send the results of the questionnaire to your child’s GP if you give permission for us to do so. Your GP will be able to discuss follow-up or further assessment, if needed.
